Spring Semester Is Over!

Spring Semester is over! My senior year is coming to an end. All I can say is thank goodness. It has been a long and trying year. Pretty soon I will be reflecting over that last four years, and man will that be a long entry. A lot has happened, and I have changed so much since I came to MBC as a freshman in August of 2001. Anyways, I only have four exams until I am home for pre-May Term break. And I must point out that this is a much needed break. My RA responsibilities are getting to be too much. I don't think my residents want me to have sleep. *Sigh*

Breaking news, Murder She Wrote has been moved to 9am. I finally figured it out. I was worried that I wasn't going to be able to watch it anymore. Those sneaky people at A&E!

Oxford is a definite go!

Thinking it is about time for an update

Hello world! Have you missed me? While web surfing today I realized that I have not updated in quite a while. So for you, my adoring fans, I will update you all now.

Far warning.......this entry will be random........

Let's see, to start I was accepted to the Oxford program this summer. The problem with that is finding the 5,000 dollars. Oh well, I will find it somehow.

This week is room lottery. The ultimate blah. Three nights of whiney girls all PMSing about how they deserve a better room even though they are sophomores. Get over it and wait til you are seniors. And the learning are probably a no go, so everyone can stop complaining about them and move on. Don't worry guys, you'll get your freakin rooms in McClung!

Thursday is St. Patrick's Day! Yay for green and cute little men that are snappy dressers.

Target absolutely rocks my socks. Red peeps, how awesome is that?

Had a great weekend this past weekend. Spent fun times with Johnice, D'Shana, Maggie, Amelia, and my CO-RA Amanda! Also, my nULLS broke out this weekend. Lucky them, getting to use the elevator and curvy stairs now.

2 months and 1 day til GRADUATION!!!!!!!!!!

What else? Oh yes, I am president of Phi Alpha Theta this year. I am feel so important.

To finish, I finally tied up some loose ends. It is still tough, but I am glad that I took care of them.

But now I am off to watch tv, read, and chug lime Kool-Aid. Leave messages of love!

Maryland Snowfall

Yay for Maryland snow! I absolutely adore the snow covered branches and the serenity that comes with falling frozen percipitation. And the best part of it all is Spring Break. And So It Builds

I just spent two and a half hours in the Staunton Courthouse reading through Deed and Land tax books trying to find when my house that I am researching was constructed. So far I have traced the land back to 1850, but then again, I am not sure I was tracing the right name. So I may have just wasted an afternoon following a dead end. Yay for a draft that is due Thursday. As for everything else, I am just drained. I have no energy, no motivation, and no will to press on. I feel that I have no where to go and no sense of purpose. In other words, I am scared out of my mind. Plus, the Oxford Program appears to be a no go. Not surprised. I am sick of the nonsense and just want it to end.

Obtaining 6,000 dollars LEGALLY

I am in serious need of help. I want to participate in the Oxford Program this summer but need 6,000 dollars. I have no idea how to get the money. So any suggestions would be appreciated. However, the means of obtaining such an amount must be done is a legal way. And yes, prostitution is illegal in all 50 states. And no, I have no intentions of going to Canada and selling my body to a person who speaks terrible French. Another problem is insurance, but that is another story all together.

As for the rest of my week, I have learned some things:
1) Jeepers Creepers is a weird ass movie.
2) MBC is going to hell in a handbasket, and Guillermo Ubilla is driving the bus.
3) Learning communities will NEVER work on a small campus that is already segregated.
4) I can write the best paper in 10 minutes while at a bar.
5) I have found the reason for why girls get the reputation of being sluts.
6) Ryan is a definite dumbass.
7) Attitudes bug the hell out of me.
8) MBC can kiss ass.

Where the hell is the snow?

Forecasts have been predicting snow for about a week now, and still there is no substantial accumulation. Is it too much for me to ask for a mere 7 inches? Kayla, please feel free to send some of that white stuff down South! However, the below zero temperatures are yours. Wouldn't want to deny that to you ;)

I know that in a previous entry, I discussed Ryan, the little jerk who drives me crazy. Well, I would like to take this time to add more about the asshole. Ryan is a self-centered, condescending, rude jackass that is smaller than a tube of travel size Maybelline Wet Shine Diamonds lipstick that has been used. A person could screw him and still consider herself a virgin. What ultimately needs to happen is for his miniscule dick to be cut off, put in a blender, set on puree, placed in ice cube trays, frozen, and dropped off the Empire Building so the cubes can shatter and be picked at by the birds. In addition, the site of the castration needs to be gangrene.

So, there is no snow, and men are jerks. Life is fan-freakintastic.

First Day of Class

So today was my first day of class, and my opinions on each of the classes are as follows:

Revolutionary Europe: No research paper! However there is this ADP student in the class who is a real jerk. If he is so smart, why was he not in college 40 years ago? Anyways, seems promising, and compared to seminar any history class is totally workable.

Women and Religion: Evans class....enough said.

Modern Middle East: Will be a busy class but amusing nonetheless. And I wonder what political party Metraux is affiliated with? He is so good at hiding his views/opinions. Hehe.

Introduction to Historic Preservation: Sounds like tons of fun. We research a house in the New Town historic district of Staunton. The best part is, she will use parts of our papers in the book being published about the area. I will be published!

Last Semester

Tomorrow is the start of my last semester as an undergrad. My first class is at 9:25, and I hope that I stay awake. Hehe, that is sad isn't it? Haven't even started yet and I am worried about being sleepy. In other news, I have two new residents. They are both very nice. However, there have been some issues about where Residence Life placed them. And the thing is, they think I had something to do with it. Sorry I am just the RA, I dont have that kind of power. Still this semester looks promising. I got 90% of my books today, meaning that two I already have at home that hopefully my mom can find and mail me, and the one book that has not come in yet. All in all I expect to pay about $230 for books. Not too bad! Tonight is the beginning of the semester RA meeting, oh joy of joys. After talking to Erin today I realized that I am too uptight about stuff. I need to calm down and have fun. This whole innocence thing is totally not working for me anymore. It is time for me to reveal my scandalous side.

The Passing of Christmas

Christmas 2004 is over, and the end of the year is almost here. Can't say that I am sad to see the year go. So much has happened this year that I wish to forget, but right now I feel like Frodo Baggins did at the end of Return of the King. And just like him I realized there is no going back. I can't go back and change what has happened this year. Oh well, there is no need reliving the details. I am determined for 2005 to be better.

Retail and Christmas

OMG, I thought Jen was joking when she said that working at Kohl's at Christmastime was hell. Nope, she was right. I swear that people hide away in little caves until December 10th and then decide to descend upon department stores in masses. Christmastime shopping prerequisites must include a vast knowledge of bad attitudes, childish behavior, and total ignorance. Anyways, I am making money and I got my discount back! Cannot wait for the associate shop days the 15th and 16th!

In other news, I have three final grades thus far, and they are as follows........
1) Senior Seminar (thesis included): A-
2) History of Photography: B+
3) Introduction to Listening: A (and this class is more challenging than it sounds)

Almost the END

Thank you God! This semester is almost over. I haven't ever wanted something to end so badly before. Originally, I had hoped this would have been some deep reflective entry over my experiences the last 14 weeks or so, however, this is definately not the case.

It would be unfair for me to say that I hate MBC, because I really don't. I just hate the crap that encompasses MBC. The incompetent Financial Aid and Business Office really have no idea how badly they have screwed over the student body. In addition, the President of the college is more concerned with hosting elaborate parties that close off valuble parking spaces instead of taking care of the students. Her strategic plan is nothing more than a ploy to bring in more revenue for a college that has lost it's positive image and replaced by an an image of sluts. Way to go for the whores on the hill. And I can't wait to see her implementation of learning communities. Let's segregate the campus even more. While were at it, let's create a program that she has no intention of following through with. So, when something goes wrong, she will continue to ask where was the RA? Let's blame the RA for everything. Screw you! Go back to Ohio! FYI Madam President, if you want people to stay here so MBC ranks higher for retention rates, start giving a damn about people. Don't let people slip through because the school can't get their act together.

As to other things, those people who feel the constant need to be bitches need to knock it off. It is getting really, really old.

And Aly, you are the most self-centered, conniving, evil, and ridiculous person that I have even encountered. You and Rachel make the perfect friends. Just hope that she doesn't turn on you. Go to hell.

Is it Thanksgiving yet?

After requests to update more often, I will do the best that I can to honor those requests. November has in general sucked. I have never been more miserable in my life. My senior thesis has drained every ounce of life and joy out me. It has put me into therapy and possibly on the road to medication. Just what every woman wants. So I got the draft back last Thursday with difficult to read comments that make me feel like an idiot and an incompetent writer. Now I have a week to to practically rewrite my paper so I can turn in it in only to have to defend it after Thanksgiving. Yay for ignorant people who can't differentiate between paper critiquing and personal attacks. I hope that I get a good reviewer. Hopefully it will be a friend that I can rely on to do a through and fair examination of the paper ( meaning Liz, Lis, Amelia, Anne, Jennifer, Charley, Kareema, or Crissy). Keep your fingers crossed.

Somehow I was talked into working the day after Thanksgiving, lucky me. Oh well, I need the money, and forbidding me time to shop on the crown jewel of all shopping days is not ncessarily a bad thing. My bank account won't suffer and I can save some energy. That just means I need to do some major shopping Saturday. It will be my therapy before defenses start.

And this is to all the people out there who feel the need to screw me over. F*** you! I am so sick of your crap and don't take out your petty anger on me just because you messed up. And there is no need to have people confront me about your problems for you. Grow some balls and do it yourself. Here is a hint for you.....the next time you think that doing something may be wrong, don't do it. No more pity parties for you.

To my friends, you all have been great and I appreciate everything that you have done for me. I know that I am not the most pleasant person to be around sometimes but thanks for putting up with me anyway. I would not be here this semester without your help. To keep it short and sweet, you all rock and I love you lots. Thanks Amelia, Liz, Lis, Charley, Kelly, Katie, Sara, Pre-Ah, Amanda, Johnice, Erin, Mary, Allison, Kelly, Amy, Amy, Kayla, Ashley, and everyone else that I may have forgotten.

October Blues

Well here it is October, and I am totally stressing out. Normally the stress waits until November, but not this year. This year I have my senior seminar, a truly horrible experience. Anyways enough about that.
My residents (I am an RA) have settled in to school. They are following the rules finally. They drive me crazy sometimes, but I love them to death.
As to everything else in my life, will there ever be any clarity? I just want to figure things out.

Jane Austen Syndrome

Jane Austen Syndrome: the desire to find a happy ending with a someone even though it is more fantasy over reality. It is also the comprehension and acceptance of knowing that it would never work under real circumstances.
In Jane Austen novels, there is always a happy ending for the main female character. Usually she finds romance after a short period of time when the truth is discovered that she loves him and he loves her in return. Normally "the guy" is someone that she loathes for most of the story. Then he does some great favor for her and she feels bad for insulting him. You know what, he probably deserved what she called him.
Unfortunately, this syndrome has crossed over into present day society. Men just feed women with lies and broken promises. Women have every right to stand up and say "screw that, I don't think so." I wish that I was able to do that. Instead I just let certain individuals infuriate me. It ends here. This person knows who he is. So to Ryan, f*** you! I am not putting up with your crap anymore. I am not, and will never be your convenience friend. If I am not good enough to talk to unless it is on your time, I don't want to be your friend. Instead of trying to pencil me into your busy schedule use that time to feel sorry for yourself for ruining it with me. You never thought that I would have the guts to do it. Who is the joke on now. At least my words and actions speak the same now. Maybe Elizabeth Bennett should have forgotten about Mr. Darcy. It's funny, the JAS can apply to friends (or former friends) as well, not love interests.
I love Jane Austen, but the odds of finding happily ever after that quickly and with a man who drives you crazy is total crap. Therefore, to all my fellow Jane Austen Syndrome sufferers, I feel your pain.
disclaimer: I am highly irritated and rambled in no particular order. The Jane Austen Syndrome was just a way for me to express my feelings. Friends can hurt more than lovers. Thanks Andrew for being so great to me. I mean no disrespect to Jane Austen, she rocks :)

Whatever

My work at Kohl's is done for the summer. Won't be returning there until December, oh joy oh bliss. Just the way I want to spend my Christmas vacation, dealing with rude people. However, there is nothing wrong with working in retail. Anyways, I am returning to school in less than a week. The packing process is going by very slowly. My attention span is not able to handle such a task. I get distracted so easily. I found my copy of Cutting Edge, one that I thought had disappeared. So what did I do? I started watching it. Of course I can't watch the movie and pack at the same time. Grrrr to my short attention span. Alas, the packing will just have to wait while I watch D.B. Sweeney and Moira Kelly try to get over their "I loathe you, but what I really mean is that I want you" issues and win the gold medal.

Good Day

Today has been such a good day! To start, I had the day off. I was able to catch up on some much needed ZZzzzz's. Then I got the Special Edition Princess Diaries on DVD. What a great movie. However, the best news of all came in the early afternoon when Melinda Brown called me from MBC. I may be getting moved. I don't want to get my hopes up too high, but I will be happy not having to be in a smoking dorm. Yay for good days.
The countdown begins, 10 days from now will be my last day at Kohl's and in 19 days I will be returning to school. Not quite ready for that yet.

Been Awhile

My last entry was July 14th, so I think it is time for an update. I know that everyone has stayed awake at night wondering what has been going on with me. Well, here it goes. In less than one month I am returning to MBC for my final year. A year filled with a 12 hour course load and many freshmen just beginning their college experiences. I hope that this will be a great year. I could use one before I have to venture out into the real world of the 9 to 5 workplace. Oh well.....here is to growing up.
I finally realized today how close August is. And with that comes the moving of my friend Kayla to Vermont, so she can continue her education. Vermont is lucky to have her, but she will be missed. Before I go, I just wanted to wish the best of luck to Annalee and Ashley. You guys can do it.

Amusement in the Strangest Place

Today started off like any other day. I worked for a few hours and came home....a very uneventful day. I thought that I would go crazy from the boredom I felt. Wind and an approaching storm, not very enjoyable.
Then out of the blue my day got better. I talked with my future CO-RA (resident advisor) over IM and we were able to decide on a hall theme. The night got better when my sister's friend brought her candy from the Outer Banks. It was a brand called Try My Nuts. It was totally what I needed. More to come.
